The Group strengthens its presence in liquid waste treatment and consolidates its network in Central Italy
Milan, June 11, 2025 – Itelyum, a leader in the management, valorization, and recycling of industrial waste, announces the acquisition of Holding Gestione Ambiente S.p.A., together with its subsidiaries Gruppo Gestione Ambientale (GSA) S.r.l., Veteres S.r.l., and Progetto Servizi Ambiente (PSA) S.r.l.. These companies form a group specialized in the management of liquid waste, particularly in the treatment of industrial wastewater, including solvent-based effluents.
This transaction further strengthens Itelyum Group’s presence in Italy as a trusted partner for businesses in environmental management and waste-to-resource transformation. It enhances the Group’s expertise and capacity in the treatment of industrial wastewater, especially in the Italian pharmaceutical sector.
GSA S.r.l., based in Civita Castellana (Viterbo), operates a facility authorized to treat 130,000 tons per year of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. It features four treatment lines based on chemical-physical, distillation, and biological processes, representing a benchmark of excellence at the national level. Veteres S.r.l., also located in Civita Castellana (Viterbo), manages a highly specialized fleet that provides waste disposal and environmental remediation services. PSA S.r.l., likewise based in Civita Castellana (Viterbo), performs brokerage activities in support of GSA.
The acquisition is part of a broader growth strategy through which Itelyum aims to strengthen its leadership in the Italian market for the management of hazardous industrial waste — leveraging technologically advanced facilities capable of maximizing value recovery. In particular, the wastewater treatment sector represents a key area of development. The integration of GSA and its related companies takes place within an entrepreneurial ecosystem that shares common values of innovation, sustainability, and resource efficiency.
“With the acquisition of Holding Gestione Ambiente and its subsidiaries,” said Marco Codognola, CEO of Itelyum, “we are taking another concrete step in the sustainable growth journey that has guided our Group for years. This transaction strengthens our presence in a strategic area such as Central Italy and reinforces our national role in liquid waste treatment — a key sector for the circular economy. We continue to build an industrial model driven by excellence, integrating enterprises that share our core values: respect for the environment, technological innovation, and full regulatory compliance. Itelyum thus confirms itself not only as an industry leader but also as a catalyst for a supply chain that places sustainability at the heart of its actions.”
“To ensure the company’s solidity and continuity,” said Stefano Quattranni and Moreno Francioli, shareholders of the acquired group, “we were pleased to finalize this operation with a leading national player, particularly in the field of industrial wastewater treatment. After more than thirty years of entrepreneurial activity, we are delighted to become part of the Itelyum team. We are confident that the company will have great opportunities to grow and develop within the Group, while maintaining its identity — supported by our continued commitment in the years to come.”
This acquisition adds to a series of strategic operations completed by Itelyum in 2024 abroad, to the development of chemical recycling of PET with Plasta Rei, and to the recent acquisition of Specialacque, a key operator in the management and recycling of industrial waste in the province of Brescia.
